Research Projects in Near Eastern Archaeobotany
The study of charred plant remains recovered
by flotation from archaeological sites in the Near and
Middle East has provided evidence for the origins and diffusion of agriculture,
plant domestication and vegetation history. This site provides information
on the research which I have carried out, as well as that of students under
my supervision.
Principal research subjects
1) The beginnings of agriculture in the Near
East and early
farming.
2) Vegetation history in the Near and Middle
East: evidence from charcoal
remains.
3) Agricultural adaptations in the Near and
Middle East: see list
of sites.
